He attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia’s Grady School of Journalism, which houses the Peabody offices, minoring in Theater and Business. Kramer then acquired an MA degree at USC’s film school in the Peter Stark Motion Picture Producing Program.

While in school, Kramer concluded an internship for the Georgia Film Commission and was an office production associate for the film Murder in Mississippi in 1990.

Kramer’s career with United Talent Agency (UTA) started in 1992, working in the agency’s mailroom and after becoming aid to co-founder Peter Benedek. He rose to fame after he became an agent in the motion picture literary department and was named a partner in 2002.

Kramer and Jay Sures held managing director positions beginning in 2010 and became co-presidents in September 2017. Kramer leads the agency’s motion picture group, which concentrates on areas such as talent, film finance, media rights, and production. Kramer and Sures, along with UTA’s chief executive officer, Jeremy Zimmer, were ranked number 33 on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of the 100 most powerful people in entertainment.
