The song “Give me Your Eyes” meaning originated from a discussion between Brandon and his friend Jason Ingram. It was released in July 2008 as the album’s lead single and quickly gained success. The song is about wanting to see how is the world as God would, and having the desire to view people with more compassion Brandon and Jason had a conversation over Chinese food that wished God had a perspective on things. Brandon then started to write a song about the idea. Before recording, Brandon had written over 40 possible tracks for the album.
The song’s genre is represented by pop and includes acoustic and mild hip-hop influences. “Give Me Your Eyes” is a mid-tempo song based upon a strummed acoustic guitar, background piano, and occasional strings.
