Jimmy was young when his parents broke up. When he was 11 years old, his dad was shot to death in front of the whole family.
He began his first band, Past Curfew, in Altoona when he was 15. He was entered by bandmates Derek Vaughn, Ian Bennett, and Brian McFee playing local shows. With all four members still in high school, nonetheless, the band chose to go their separate ways a few years later.
