Paulson was born on December 17, 1974, in Tampa, Florida. She was enrolled at P.S. 29 in Brooklyn and later joined Manhattan’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Paulson began her career in stage productions, she later starred in the short-lived television series American Gothic 1995 to 1996) and Jack & Jill 1999 to 2001.
