why did patrick dempsey Leave Grey’s Anatomy?
“I would love to do something else. I’m going to take the rest of the year off to develop. I would like to be a producer. I would commit to a show that is 10 to 12 episodes. But 24 again, I don’t know if I would do that. It’s a very hard life. It’s financially rewarding but there comes a point where how much is enough, really? I’m focusing now on developing and racing and being a father to my children.”

Actor Patrick Dempsey Becomes Business Partner Of Made In Italy Brand KA/NOA
Adopted From:forbes.com
Published:Jan 17, 2019
When we reminisce about leading men of style in Hollywood, several names come to mind. The original mens style icon, Humphrey Bogart is widely regarded as one of the all time best actors. He had a weathered face, a deep attitude, an ever-present cigarette, and (drum roll) a sharply cut suit, tuxedo, or trench coat. Bogie would become the template for all leading men to follow. Soon thereafter, enter Cary Grant, with a broad smile and a classic sack suit. Grant was a debonair hero of Hollywoods silver screen. From there the list of Hollywood style icons lead the way for Sinatra, Redford and so on. Even today, celebrity influencers in menswear range from star athletes to well-put together actors.
Luxury men’s slow wear brand, KA/NOA, announced that actor and racing driver Patrick Dempsey is joining the company as a business partner. The brand was founded in 2017 by Italian born Bruno Grande., KA/NOA is a fast-developing men’s brand that is 100% Made in Italy, from the yarn to the label, and a personal project initiated by Bruno Grand. Named for their two children, Kaia and Noah, KA/NOA focuses its key values of quality and simplicity, which instantly conquered the passion of Patrick Dempsey. Leading to a natural sense of kinship and common wish to join forces to grow the brand, this powerful partnership is the result of an encounter between different personalities united by a common passion for these shared principles.
Commenting on the alliance, Patrick Dempsey says: “I was captivated by KA/NOA’s approach and brand values from the moment I made my first order online and was amazed by the quality and the attention to details. As a very detail-focused person, I have a strong connection to the brand’s products, brand philosophy, and most importantly, the people driving it, along with a deep respect for all that has been achieved since its creation a year ago. I am very proud and happy to be able to play a role in this adventure, and eager to learn from Bruno and the men and women who make KA/NOA the worthy enterprise that it is.”
Says Bruno Grande: “It is a great honor to have touched the heart of someone like Patrick. His enthusiasm and recognition of the work we have been doing has been very rewarding for all of use. KA/NOA is the story of a passion transmitted by my father, which I hope to transmit to my kids, and the result of a desire to create a brand that is respectful of our Italian heritage, know-how and artisans. Today it represents a timeless wardrobe designed for men (and women) who enjoy living and traveling with style, in comfortable yet elegant clothes all designed to pair with each other.”
I recently had the privilege of speaking with co-founder Bruno Grande and newly appointed business partner Patrick Dempsey (yes, the actor) about endorsing the brand, the importance of technology and what American men are interested in with respect to wardrobe.
Joseph DeAcetis: In your words, talk to us about why you are passionate about KA/NOA?
Patrick Demspey: I was captivated by KA/NOA’s approach and brand values from the moment
I made my first order online. I was amazed by the quality and
attention to details. As a very detailed – focused person, I have
strong connections to the brand products, brand philosophy and most
importantly to Bruno and his wife Valerie. I have a deep respect for
all that has been achieved since KA/NOA’s creation 18 months ago. We
have a very special and close relationship, where each learn for the
other, we share the same values and approach to life. I’m very proud
and happy to play a role in this adventure. It’s a great experience.
JD: What is your stand out piece and why
PD: I love the dark blue cashmere shirt. 100% pure cashmere, pressed, to
reduce the peeling. Great sensation on skin, to be worn alone or as an
overlay.
Joseph DeAcetis: Talk to us about the business history?
Bruno Grande: I started the project 20 years ago in my mind. I was travelling a lot and had the necessity to travel light and to prepare my luggage in 5mins. On august 8, 2016, I decided to make the step and to start creating my own wardrobe. Named after my two kids Kaia and Noah, KANOA was born in 2017, with the opening of our first Boutique in Lausanne, on September 27. Crans Montana followed 3 months later and our latest opening was in Zurich last September.
JD: What is your comparative advantage in the market?
BG: 100% Made in Italy. From the yarn to the label, I don’t make any compromise. This is a credo and a philosophy and a reality that is ultra rare to find.
Longevity of the product cycle: I create timeless basic pieces, which all mix match. A unique concept which addresses the “travel light” problematics and replies to the ephemeral character of today s fashion.
Unique positioning quality vs price.
JD: In your opinion, what are men seeking today in apparel and how are you addressing that?
BG: Authenticity, sourcing, responsibility, comfort, Quality.. This movement which is already ongoing in the food industry for example (I come from Alba region in Italy, where Slow Food was born) is now appearing in all sectors of our daily life (interior design, etc). People are becoming more responsible and KANOA is the prefect answer to this: Buy less buy better.
