Ralph Bakshi Career
Starting his career at the Terrytoons TV cartoon studio as a cel polisher, he was ultimately encouraged to animator, and then director. He moved to the animation division of Paramount Pictures in 1976 and developed his own studio, Bakshi Productions, in 1968.
Through producer Steve Krantz, he made his introduction appearance movie, Fritz the Cat, launched in 1972. It was the first animated movie to get an X rating from the Motion Picture Association of America, and the most successful independent animated appearance of all time.
Over the next 11 years, Ralph directed seven additional animated appearances. He is famously known for such movies as Wizards (1977), The Lord of the Rings (1978), American Pop (1981) and Fire and Ice (1983).
