Richard Sammel Biography
Richard Sammel (born 13 October 1960) is a German actor best known for his role as Thomas Eichhorst on the FX television series The Strain (2014–2017). In 2012, he won “Best Actor” at the Syracuse International Film Festival for his performance in Ruggero Dipaola’s Apartment in Athens.
Sammel is an internationally known actor who is has acted in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish fluently. Richard has been a star in over forty films and sixty television films filmed in different locations like Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, England, Balkans, Canada, South Africa and the United States. He has worked with many directors such as Quentin Tarantino, Luc Besson, Martin Campbell, Bertrand Tavernier, Claude Lelouche, Jean-Paul Rappeneau, Roberto Begnini, Dario Argento, McG and Michel Hazanavicius.
Sammel recently starred in “A Day Like a Week”, a supernatural thriller alongside Armand Assante. He has just returned for the seventh season of “The French Village”. He has been having a leading role in this hugely polular French TV series from its beginning.

Sammel began his professional acting career in 1981 on stage in Hildesheim, Germany. From 1983, he worked in France, as a musician, dancer, and actor where his breakthrough came in 1987, with an acclaimed performance in Catch, by the Company Nelson Dumont.

The Strain is an American horror drama television series that was aired on FX from July 13, 2014, to September 17, 2017. The series was created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their novel trilogy of the same name. Carlton Cuse serves as executive producer and showrunner. Del Toro and Hogan wrote the pilot episode, “Night Zero”, which del Toro directed. A thirteen-episode first season was ordered on November 19, 2013. The pilot episode premiered at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, in early June 2014.
On August 6, 2014, FX renewed The Strain for a 13-episode second season. The episode premiered on July 12, 2015. On August 7, 2015, FX renewed The Strain for a 10-episode third season which premiered on August 28, 2016. The show centres around Dr Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the CDC’s New York-based Canary Project, who is called upon to investigate an aeroplane landing wherein everyone aboard is dead. What his team discovers is a viral outbreak that has similarities to an ancient strain of vampirism. The virus starts to spread and Goodweather works with his team and a group of the city’s residents to wage a war to save humanity.

Adolph Gettler played by Sammel was a fictional operative of the considerable criminal organization. He potrayed the rogue character in the 2006 James Bond film. The literary character first appeared in the 1953 Ian Fleming novel Casino Royale.
