Fukuzaki began his broadcast career for the Top 40 radio station KXPW in Hawaii. Soon after, he began working part-time for KITV in Honolulu doing sports reporting. Rob eventually got a full-time slot working as the station’s weekday sports reporter and weekend anchor.
One of Fukuzaki’s more memorable assignments at KITV was an award-winning special on Sumo in Japan. The broadcast highlighted the three top-ranked wrestlers from Hawaii, including Grand Champion Musashimaru and Grand Champion Akebono.
