Ruben Ramos Career
Ruben Ramos And The Mexican Revolution
In 1969, Ruben framed a new band which he named “The Mexican Revolution”. The reason as to why he picked this name, is because of the development of the Chicano and social liberties developments.
During that period, the band played the Chicano circuit that kept running from Dallas-Fort Worth to the Rio Grande Valley.
By 1981, “Tejano” had turned into the new term for the music he had been playing, so Ruben changed the band name to the Texas Revolution.
In 1985, Alfonso and Ruben rejoined for a progression of collections and were both named best vocal pair at the 1987 Tejano Music Awards. At this point, he had scored with the provincial hit “El Gato Negro” (The Black Cat), which likewise turned into his epithet.
During the ’90s Ruben kept playing with a live horsection, shunning the pattern by numerous groups to substitute synthesizers and consoles. Ruben later changed the band’s name back to the Mexican Revolution during the mid-2000s.
On account of sibling “Pia” Ramos inferring the early clashes of the Mexican Revolution which the precursors of the Perez family had battled in, the band chose to pay reverence to the past, by the band changing its name to the Mexican Revolution.
The band comprises Ruben Ramos (vocals/percussion), Rick Fuentes (accordion/keys/bass/guitar/vocals), Bobby Dominguez (bass), Joe (guitar/keys/vocals), Christopher Rivera (drums/vocals), Don Wise (tenor saxophone), Fabian Hernandez (alto and tenor saxophones), William “Wild Bill” Perkins (trumpet), Duane Hargis (trumpet).
Imprint (Ruben’s child) is the stage supervisor and runs the light and enhancements appear, while Ruben’s other child, Ruben Renee Ramos, fills in as sound architect.
Ruben Ramos and The Mexican Revolution have been designated for a Grammy Award two years straight, for the 35th Anniversary collection, and the Viva La Revolucion collection. The last won the 2009 Grammy for “Best Tejano collection”.
