Jo Ann Strauss was born on 3rd February 1981 in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a South African model, television presenter, public speaker and enterprenuer.

She attended Uitsig Primary School and later went to Hottentots- Holland High School. She later went to Stellenbosch where she studied bachelors degree in Commerce with a focus on Law.

In 2000 (when she was 19 years) she won the Miss South Africa pageant. She represented South Africa at the the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico, placing sixth, and in the Miss World pageant at Sun City in 2001.

In 2000 she auditioned for a position as a presenter on the Afrikaans magazine programme, Pasella on SABC2 where she got the role and held the position until 2004 when she secured a position as an anchor for the English lifestyle magazine show, Top Billing. In 2014 she became the director of Media24 Limited
Jo Ann Strauss Acting Career
She appeared in a German movie called The Secret of the Whales for a short role. The plot involves saving whales whose sonar is disrupted by technology used by companies drilling offshore for oil.

She has MCs for many prestigious events, among the most memorable being President Thabo Mbeki’s “Transformation” events, during which Jo-Ann and President Mbeki co-delivered the keynote address.She has also hosted the International Islamic Finance and Investment Conference (attended by the President of Malaysia) and the World Conference on Computers in Education.
She presented the opening of the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa for German television network ZDF and has charmed guests as far afield as the BMW World Golf Final in Phuket to awards dinners Sardinia and Monaco.

“I’ve been quite quiet about my pregnancy and reluctant to do any media about it, but now, I think that here, on my new blog, I’ll share some of my thoughts and feelings about the 9 month journey before and the journey ahead. Our son is too young to give his permission yet for photo’s of him to be shown, so I’ll do my best to wait for him to give the go ahead. In the meanwhile, his body language is saying, no pics for now ;-)”
Jo Ann Strauss Philanthropy
In 2008 Jo Ann Strauss started princess project where she provides deserving young ladies the chance to go to their matric dance or proms in designer gowns previously owned by South African celebrities.
She is the chairperson of the Partnership Foundation Trust which has provided life and career skills training to more than 1,200 disadvantaged students.
She’s also a shareholder and director in a venture capital company Partnership Investments, a women-owned black economic empowerment company that aims to contribute to the transformation process in South Africa and develop leadership talents in underprivileged children.
Towards the end of 2011 she started the first online Presenter Search 2012 competition n to put the presentation skills of young would-be presenters to the test. The top four candidates were taken on a life-changing trip to Zambia and given the chance to hone their skills with training and mentoring from Strauss and Bonang Matheba.

In 2012 she married her long time boyfriend Michael Held in a private wedding that was held at Camps Bay Retreat.
