Lerato Kganyago Biography
Lerato Kganyago is a South African model, TV presenter, businesswoman and socialite who is known for hosting her own talk show on Soweto TV called The LKG Show and also for hosting the SABC1 lifestyle magazine show The Link.

Kganyago began her schooling at Ipolokeng Primary school and later went to Boksburg High School where she matriculated. She then studied a Diploma in Travel and Tourism, and Public Relations at Damelin College.

The presenter was born on 22nd July 1982 in Soweto, South Africa. She is 36 years old as of 2018.

Lerato is an only child in her family. She grew up with both parents; her mom Rae and her father whom she describes as being absent emotionaly. Speaking about her mom at a Luminance High Tea hosted by actress Terry Pheto, Lerato said that she is overprotective of her mother who is not into the public limelight and loves spending time with her as she is her best friend. She is the niece of SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago.
Taking to social media, Lerato spoke about letting go of the hurt, betrayal, pain, grudges she had against her father. She wrote, “Rebuilding my relationship with my father was the best thing I ever did for my SOUL. We don’t have a perfect relationship, but letting go of what had happened in the past freed me! Many years I longed for a fathers LOVE, though he was present physically… he wasn’t emotionally”.

Kganyago had been single for a while but has since found love again in an European guy. This is after breaking up with her ex-fiance, South African soccer player Katlego Mashego in 2014 with whom she had a relationship with for four years.
Speaking about this new man in her life, she said, “We’ve been together for over a year and it’s going really great. He’s the total opposite of me – he’s reserved and I’m more outspoken and outgoing. I’m hoping to be with him for a long time.”
Like many celebs, she says she won’t reveal who her man is but she’s spilling tea on how he makes her feel. “I am seeing someone and he is living in Europe. He is an amazing gut, and yes if he asks to marry me, I will gladly do so as he completes my world,” she told Move mag.

In 2002, she participated in a beauty pageant in she was crowned Miss Jam Alley 2002. She was also a finalist in the Miss City Press contests in 2003 and 2005 and was crowned Miss Soweto in 2005.
Lerato Kganyago as Media Personality
She was featured on the popular drive time show on Jozi Fm, with DJ Hluks, as an entertainment news updater. On the same slot she hosted a car show updating listeners about the latest cars and celebrities that drive them.
In 2008, she became a presenter at the community TV station Soweto TV until 2012. In 2012, she got hired by SABC 1 replacing Bonang Matheba as the host of ‘The Link’ a lifestyle TV show that aired on SABC 1. In 2016, she replaced Pearl Thusi as the co-host of SABC1 music show LIVE Amp.
Lerato Kganyago Acting Career
In 2010, she had a small role in the e.tv drama series 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls. She has also had cameo roles on Live (she co-hosted the show with Crazy Lu), the mini-series After 9 on SABC1 and The Wild on M-Net.
In 2015, she joined SABC2 soapie Muvhango in the role of Mmasebotsana Primrose Mojalefa, a beauty and a businesswoman in which she made her debut on Thursday, 11 June 2015.
Lerato Kganyago as an Enterpreneur
She was a partner in the FTV (Centurion) franchise and she owns Black Angel, an events management company. She has also secured deals with the Gauteng Department of Education, Face of Jawad Products in Lesotho, Revlon, Always Ultra Campaigns, Silver Star Casino and Tropica alongside hosting music festivals as an MC.
Lerato Kganyago Miscarriage
In 2015, Kganyago had a miscarriage and during an interview on Real Talk by Anele Mdoda she revealed that she has actually had two miscarriages. She said that she suffered fibroids which were removed but had returned increasing her chances of miscarrying again.
She told Anele that she is in therapy to help her deal with the pain of her loss and had learnt to block out the idea of having children.

“I have blocked the idea of having children completely because of the pain that I went through when I miscarrried. I wouldn’t put that on my worst enemy. It is the most painful thing ever‚ especially when you really want to have a child. I’m comfortable with saying that I don’t want to have children. It is painful. I don’t want to go through that again.”

Lerato Kganyago Awards
Lerato won the Best Presenter Award at SAFTAs 2018 held at the Sun City on Sunday (March 24) in North West. She won the award for Best Presenter for her work in the SABC1 music show Live Amp.
