Mogau Pauline Motlhatswi Biography
Mogau Pauline Motlhatswi was born on 13th July 1992 in Mogoto Village, Limpopo in South Africa. She is an actress who plays as Mapitsi, the ex girlfriend of Thabo ‘Tbose’ Maputla and mother of his child, in the drama series turned soap opera Skeem Saam which airs on SABC 1.
Primary school student at Piet van Vuuren Primary school in Brixton where she did athletics, cross country and played netball.
She later attended St. Mary’s High school at Waverly where she took drama, history and geography up to matric.
She graduated from the University of Johannesburg where she studied audiovisual communication.
When Mogau was little she wanted to be a lawyer, then a radio personality. That dream changed when she learnt about film and theatre.
In 2011 she landed a leading role in the youth drama series turned soap opera Skeem Saam, as Mapitsi the ex girlfriend of Thabo Maputla (Thabo Mamabolo), which starred Thabo Mamabolo, Clement Maosa, Eric Macheru, Natasha Thahane and Amanda du Pont.
In 2014 she had a guest starring role on the AIDS drama Soul City as Bulelwa which aired on SABC 1.
Mogau Motlhatswi Attack
She was once attacked by an unknown woman who nearly stabbed her in 2014. She said that her attacker pulled out a knife and charged at her while she was attending a public event as a guest. The woman accussed her of breaking the heart of her former boyfriend in the soapie, Thabo “Tbose” Maputla, (played by Cornet Mamabolo). Other people intervened and ordered her to leave.Motlhatswi appealed to viewers to learn to distinguish between fiction and reality.

Role model: Edwin Cameron is Mogau’s inspiration, “he is the most amazing man I have ever met, and his success is something I would like to aim for. He is respected worldwide and has a heart of gold. My grandmother Sophie Kekana, the strongest woman alive is also an inspiration, she is very strict and we didn’t see eye to eye but it took a lot for her to take care of the family as she did and continues to do.”
Fears: Mogau is terrified of failure and scared of frogs. She is inclined to be short tempered and a tad stubborn. She gets angry at people who still believe that men are superior to women.
Hobbies: In her leisure time Mogau listens to music and spends time with those she loves. She enjoys listening to Yfm, “the presenters are great and they play good music. Siyabonga Ngwekazi is also inspirational.” Vusi Kunene, Jamie Bartlett, Robert Whitehead, Xolile Tshabalala, Leonardo Di Caprio and Meryl Streep are Mogau’s favourite movie stars.
Reget: Mogau’s only regret is one she would like to share with other youth “I regret not working to my fullest potential in school, it is important later in life.”
