Mona Monyane Biography
Mona Monyane is a South African actress and Theatre director. She was born in Harare, Zimbabwe on the 16th of May 1990 to exiled, South African, activist parents. Her parents were in exile during the struggle against apartheid. She grew up in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, and leter moved to Pretoria.
She is the talented actress behind the character of Dr Nthabeleng Molapo on SABC2 soapie opera Muvhango. She plays the recurring role of Dr Nthabeleng, who is an obstetrician and gynaecologist and girlfriend to James Motsamai (played by Dingaan Mokebe ka Khumalo).
Apart from Muvhango, she had roles in two feature films which include Hard To Get and Kalushi (A film about the life of the late struggle hero Solomon Mahlangu). She is also a director of a play called Mavis.
She attended the University of Pretoria where she studied Drama. She began her acting career in 2012. The highlight of her career is performing at the Market Theatre main stage. Although she may be passionate about acting, Mona admitted that if she was not an actress she would’ve settled for a career in being a psychologist.
