Naledi Pandor Biography
Naledi Pandor (Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor) was born on 7th September 1953 in South Africa. She is a South African politician and the Minister of Science and Technology.
In 1994 she was elected to parliament and was appointed Chairperson of The National Council of Provinces by President Thabo Mbeki in 1999.
From 2004 she served as the Minister of Education until 2009. She oversaw a complete overhaul of the Education system under her tenure and proposed reforms to the country’s perceived failure of the implementation of Outcomes Based Education (OBE).
In May 2009 she was appointed by President Jacob Zuma as the Minister of Science and Technology. On 2nd October 2012 she was appointed by the president as the Minister of Home Affairs.
In 2014 she was replaced as Home Affairs Minister and returned to the Department of Science and Technology.
She is married to Sharif Joseph Pandor and has four children,Fazlur, Aisha, Suraya and Haroon.
