Pearl Modiadie was born on 29th December 1987 in Tembisa, South Africa. She is a presenter, radio DJ, actress and producer best known for presenting the SABC 1 music talk show.

Pearl Modiadie as a Television Host
In 2006, Pearl Modiadie decided to take a gap year after school to pursue television. At 18 years old, she starting her presenting journey on Craz-e! , a TV platform which became her introduction into the entertainment industry.
She hosted four (4) shows on Craz-e including Sistahood (a show for girls, by girls) , Shiz Niz ( a Hip-Hop show) , Frenzy (a magazine show) and Craz-e World Live ( an interactive live game show). After graduating with a Diploma in Media and Journalism in 2010, she decided to branch out behind the scenes becoming the Content producer for Sistahood while hosting the show.
In 2012, Sistahood was nominated at the SAFTAs ( South African Film and Television Awards) for best TV talk show and best youth programmes. After 6 years on Craz-e, it was time to move on and pursue a career in acting and radio.
Modiadie is the host and Content Producer of Zaziwa on SABC 1. Zaziwa is a music talk show which occupies the prime-time slot every Thursday at 19h30. On this platform, Pearl interviews prominent celebrities and takes the viewers on the celebrity’s life journey through music. The show quickly gained a huge following after its premiere in 2013 and the numbers keep escalating. It is Pearl’s warm nature and witty personality together with her professionalism that makes her guests feel at ease and keep the viewers tuned in. She has interviewed influential celebrities including Kenny Lattimore, Robert Marawa, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Zindzi Mandela and seasoned broadcaster DJ Fresh to name a few.
Pearl Modiadie Career as an actress
She began her acting debut on Bhuti Madlisa, a local film where she played the character of Poppy. She has since played various roles including the feisty Kefiloe Malope on etv’s prime-time soapie Scandal in 2013. She received raving reviews for her character portrayal and the character subsequently died of a drug overdose. Pearl can be seen playing the reoccuring role of DJ Jade, a radio DJ on the biggest soapie, Generations The Legacy.
In 2015 she was one of the 10 celebrity contestants on the eighth season of the reality competition series ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. She was partnered with professional dancer Grant Esterhuizen.
Pearl Modiadie spread her wings during the 2014 FIFA world cup as co-host of Kasi To Favelas, a live soccer lifestyle show that occupied the 8pm slot on SA’s leading channel SABC 1. The year 2014 also saw this media all rounder teaming up with the company for women and world’s leading direct-marketing company, AVON as the spokesperson/brand ambassador of the Aspire fragrance, joining celebrities like Black Eyed Pea’s lead singer Fergie and actress Megan Fox and leading tennis player Maria Sharapova who endorse fragrances by Avon.
Her fashion flair was recognised by retailer Woolworths South Africa when she was asked to be part of their 2014 online and in-store winter and summer fashion campaigns which encourage fashion conversation on social media. The summer campaign saw Pearl styling a few of the campaign’s looks for the ‘Styled By Pearl’ edition. Fashion is something that Pearl Modiadie is passionate about and it is definitely a field that she is looking to pursue in future.
Pearl Modiadie Radio Career
Her radio debut was in 2009 on Gauteng’s youth station YFM. Pearl Modiadie who was known as The Black Pearl to her fans then, first hosted The YFM Playground 03:00 – 06:00 then moved on to host and produce content for The Natural High every weekend between 00:00 – 03:00. It was evident that she had grown in this new role when she was offered the weekend breakfast show The Jumpstart 06:00 – 09:00 that she hosted and produced until her departure from the station in 2013. She joined Metro FM in 2015 as a co-anchor of the daily 12-3pm Primetime Lunchtime show alongside seasoned radio host Amon Mokoena.

She got engaged to her fiance in bling fashion when Buthelezi went down on his knee mid-air during a helicopter ride when on a holiday in Zambia. They later broke up and Modiadie gave back her engagement ring.
Nkululeko Buthelezi was allegedly complaining that Modiadie did not have time for him and was depriving him of the privileges of their relationship.
In February they mended their differences and Pearl confirmed that they were together and they are happy.
