Hometown: Hammarsdale and KwaNdengezi, South Africa

Big break: Zone 14, a TV series in South Africa, propelled my career. But my first international gig was The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency with Jill Scott and Anika Noni Rose.

Favorite song to sing aloud: Anything my daughter wants to sing. She loves Nelly Furtado’s “I’m Like a Bird” and India Arie.

The last thing that made her LOL: Probably one of my castmates. I work with extremely talented, but crazy people.

The beauty product that has changed her life: Water made me recognize that taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be expensive. Thusi is also the founder of the Black Pearl Collection, an emerging line of natural hair products.

Why being in Quantico is such an important role for her: It’s my first time as a series regular outside of South Africa. I really hope to represent all the people of my continent well. This is the role that may just decide what happens to the rest of my life.

How it felt being on the big screen for the first time: I was 15, excited and shocked. That’s when I realized that the world was bigger than my hood or township.
