Phat Joe Remarks on Down Syndrome
On February 2017, during his drive time show on East Coast Radio he said that he felt ‘Down Syndromish’. He was later suspended after parents of children with Down Syndrome reacted.
In a Facebook post the radio station posted, “As a well-known and well-loved KZN brand, we will always endeavor to protect the interests of our listeners. We disagree with the comments that Phat Joe has made over the past few days and have decided to take him off air for the duration of this week. We will provide a further update as soon as we are in a position to do so.”
Phat Joe Comment on Caster Semenya
In 2009, Joe invited listeners to Kaya FM to express their views on the Semenya Caster issue after an Australian newspaper claimed that the results of the sex tests the teenager had allegedly undergone showed she had “no womb and no ovaries, and had internal testes”.
During the show Joe said, “Does this mean that at this point she has never had a period? To some extent, she should have known that something is not 100% right. She was still waiting for her period, perhaps?”
“Did she cheat when she left those women (behind) in Germany? Why is it possible that she could not have known that she is not 100% female?”
Due to these remarks he was fired from the radio station although he says that he was not given an explanation for his firing.
“I still don’t know why I got fired. They have not given the reason for firing me. No meeting was called to explain this and I wasn’t told why. I still have the letter on email.”

Phat Joe and his wedding
Published: 07 July 2018
You’ve probably been wondering when Phat Joe’s wedding will be taking place. The TV host melted hearts when he proposed to Palesa Morgan back in 2016.
His proposal video was the cutest. In the clip, Joe gave Palesa five reasons why he loves her. “You’re the most beautiful, sexy and angelic woman I have ever met. And to my surprise, with every passing day, you grow more and more beautiful,” he said. Isn’t he the sweetest, though?
So, when is the big day?
Speaking to Azania Mosaka on Real Talk, the former RGB said the ceremony was supposed to happen in April. “And it didn’t happen in April. And part of the problem has been me, my schedule and what’s going on in my life and business wise,” he told Azania.
Although he didn’t want to get into the details, he did confirm that there will be a wedding. He said there are dates that they’re targeting this year.
He described Palesa as an amazing, smart and intelligent person. “It’s very rare that you meet somebody that echoes your own thoughts. So, it’s like, whatever I say – it’s not that we complete each other’s thoughts – we’re so in agreement on so many that very little has to be said and spoken about. Half the time we just spend our time laughing at all the things we agree about, and like how crazy the world is and how people are…”
Shortly after the proposal video went viral, Palesa, who is a model by profession, had an interview on SABC 3’s Expresso. She revealed that she’s always know that she’d marry him.
“But when it happened of course I was so surprised and overjoyed. When asked if she knew if the proposal would happen that way, she said no. “It’s the last thing I expected. Just because he’s the opposite at home – he’s so quiet, I expected like a Sunday morning breakfast…” Palesa added that Joe definitely surprised her.
