Randall Abrahams Biography
Randall Abrahams is a South African Radio and Television Personality who is also an independent consultant to the digital and PR industry best known as “the strict judge” on the M-Net reality competition series Idols, since the show launched in February 2002.
For his education, Abrahams attended Harold Cressy High School. He also studied at the University of Cape Town from 1988 to 1992, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons).
He has held various management roles at SABC trade radio stations: joining Good Hope FM as programming assistant in 1992, after which he was promoted to station manager – a post he held from 1994 to 1997. He left Good Hope and moved to Johannesburg, where he helped with the establishment of the YFM youth radio station and served as station manager from 1997 to 2002. From 2000 to 2001, he was the deputy chairman of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), the industry body responsible for promoting the vision of the broadcasting sector, and from 2001 to 2003 he chaired the office.
From 2002 to 2006, he were the General Manager of Commercial Radio at the SABC and was also responsible for the success of 5FM , Metro FM and Good Hope FM. He also worked as a freelance journalist and contributed to publications like Financial Mail, Tribute, Y Mag, Advantage and Blink.
He was also the owner and managing partner of the public relations company Total Exposure (managing the publicity for SA’s Got Talent ), from the project management company Mushroom Productions and from the multimedia marketing company RAMM.
