Sandy Powell Biography
Sandy Powell is a British Costume Designer. She has won three Academy Awards for Best Costume Design for her works in Young Victoria, The Aviator and Shakespeare In Love along with 12 nominations for the same. She has also received 13 BAFTA Award nominations, a win for Velvet Goldmine and The Young Victoria. The latter film garnered her several other awards in costume design. Powell left Central School of Art in London, before completing her degree, due to offers of work from, amongst others. She was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to the film industry.
