Shane Lloyd is an American man who gained popularity after being charged with murdering a 15-year-old student-athlete named Amir James in East Harlem on Memorial Day. Authorities said Shane Lloyd, who is being held at Rikers Island in connection with a hit-and-run in September 2020, was linked to the death of Amir James on May 31 between Lexington Avenue and East 123rd Street.
According to nypost.com, James, a Thurgood Marshall Academy student, was shot in the chest by the lone gunman while out getting fried chicken with his sister and another relative at 10:30 p.m. The teen was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

It wasn’t apparent whether he was the intended target or a bystander. A 30-year-old male was also shot in the knee.
According to authorities, Lloyd was arrested on July 22 for allegedly throwing a handgun out of his car after colliding with another vehicle and fleeing on September 13, 2020.
According to state corrections records, Lloyd, who also goes by the first name Antonio, was under post-release supervision at the time of the alleged offense for a prior weapons possession conviction.
Lloyd was released from jail in August 2019 after serving a three-year sentence for the firearms conviction, according to records. Amir’s grandmother, Rosemary West, previously described him as a top student and exceptional athlete who excelled in football, basketball, and kickball.
She said, “Always called on him to get on the team because he was so good,” nypost.com reported
“I taught him how to cook,” West said, adding that they enjoyed cooking breakfast together, as well as peas and rice, potato salad, and barbecue chicken. The day following the murder, West said, “He would have been a great person,”

“There were so many things he wanted to do.”
