Pie grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York, and she started doing drag as a performance thing. When not in school during the summer, she would write these little minstrel shows that could be done in the street. She played the woman and she loved the laughs that she got. That is how Sherry began doing drag.

Nonetheless, she was in a production of Hairspray as Edna. “Getting to play a role that Divine originated in film and Harvey Fierstein originated on Broadway was the most amazing experience for me,” she said. Pie does a weekly show on Mondays at REBAR in Chelsea called Marquee Monday’s. While in Marquee Monday’s, they take a Broadway musical every week and ” we kind of gay it up and bastardize it.

Pie was disqualified from season 12 of Drag Race for catfishing allegations. This was after five men alleged they were deceived by the performer when he posed as a casting director and coerced them into doing “degrading” things on camera for roles that did not exist.

The announcement came ahead of the airing of episode two (which was taped last year), in which Gugliemelli was set to make his debut. “In light of recent developments and Sherry Pie’s statement, Sherry Pie has been disqualified from RuPaul’s Drag Race,” the show posted on its Twitter account.
