Mat runs a popular satirical channel on the online video site YouTube, where he creates content aimed at an audience of members of the armed service, veterans, and the weapons community. Best started producing videos in El Paso with Jarred Taylor, then a member of the U.S. Air Force, when Best returned during breaks from contracting overseas tours.

Together with fellow veteran Jarred Taylor, Best co-founded the brand Article 15 Clothing in 2012. After a night of debauchery, five military comrades (Mat Best, Nick Palmisciano, Jarred Taylor, Jack Mandaville, and Vincent “Rocco” Vargas) wake up in a drunk tank only to find out that while they were passed out in their cell, a zombie apocalypse has begun and they realize that when they see a zombified Richard Chandler (William Shatner) who tries to attack Rocco, though Rocco quickly kills him with a hit to the head. Instead of panicking, the group is ecstatic and thrilled about the zombie apocalypse.
