Stella McCartney launches her first ever bridal collection after designing Meghan’s reception gown
Published: 13 November 2018
Adopted from: dailymail.co.uk
McCartney Stella has launched her first ever bridal collection – less than six months after designing Meghan’s evening gown for her big day.
The British designer, 47, has unveiled her 17-piece Made With Love bridal collection, including a gown inspired by the Duchess of Sussex’s halterneck number, priced at £3,500.
The collection includes seven dresses in total, along with a lace jumpsuit and tailored pieces, with prices starting at £675.
Each item also contains a blue tag sewn inside – as the bride’s ‘something blue’ – featuring a personal message from Stella herself.
‘I’ve made a lot of wedding dresses for a lot of high-profile people – none as high-profile as that obviously – but I’ve always felt very protective over that moment and to be entrusted means a lot to me.’
The bridal range also continues with Stella’s environmentally-friendly ethos, with the garments created using sustainable viscose and updates on traditional couture fabrics.
Other stand-out pieces include a cape dress, similar in style to ones worn in the past by the Duchess of Sussex, as well as white sequin frock.
Earlier this year, the British designer released limited edition replicas of Meghan’s wedding reception gown costing £3,500.
The British label initially created just 46 of the Meghan-inspired dresses, with half the collection in lily-white and half in onyx-black.
Meghan’s figure-hugging evening dress featured a halterneck neckline and a low back, as well as a dramatic fluted skirt.
Celebrity stylist Lucas Armitage estimated that such a gown would probably cost around £80,000 for fabric, design and fittings.
Stella’s new wedding dress collection is now available in select stores, as well as online.
