Steve Bullock 2020
Democratic Montana Governor, Steve will run for Senate in 2020 election. He will challenge Republican Senate Steve Daines in what could be a competitive battleground in the fight for the chamber. Bullock, who ran for president in 2020, had repeatedly refused he would run for Senate.
Steve Bullock President
Steve was the head of the National Governors Association from 2018 – 2019. He was a Democratic aspirant for President of the United States in 2020. After postponing his presidential campaign, he declared his interest in the United States Senate in the 2020 election.
Steve Bullock Senate
The governor who was chosen in 2016 was a big, if unlikely, recruiting target for Democrats. He declared his presidential campaign last May and dropped out of the race in December. Before and after his presidential run, he insisted the Senate didn’t interest him. But Democrats continued to bring him into the contest ahead of Monday’s filing deadline, hoping that if he ran it would put Montana on the map and give them another chance to flip a seat in the uphill battle to win back the Senate.
Steve met former President Obama in Washington and with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in Montana, signs that he was looking into his opposition to contest for the upper chamber. Other Democrats had already entered the contest, including public health expert Cora Neumann and Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins.
But Steve is likely to b become the party’s consensus decision against Daines. Daines who is a first-term senator and former one-term congressman won his first Senate campaign by double digits in 2014. Daines campaign manager, Shane Scanlon, touted the Republican’s record and expressed confidence voters would send him back to Washington.
