Suchitra started her career as a model and did a few modeling assignments before she shifted to London. She got her first role in the French movie Le Prix dune femme in 1993. She worked in an English film Guru in Seven in 1998. Her first Hindi film was Everybody Says I’m Fine in 2001.

Suchitra has worked in several Bollywood films and is recognized for her role of Priya in Dil Chahta Hai, Michelle in Laagi Chunri Mein Daag, Avantika Sarin in Fashion. She has worked in a couple of Malayalam films Oppam and Cold Case.
