Susan Kihika is a famous Kenyan Politician, Lawyer, and the current Governor of Nakuru County. Also, she is the first female governor of Nakuru County. Kihika was elected as a senator in 2017 on the Jubilee Party as a Majority whip, where she held the position until the 11th of May 2020 when she was superseded by Senator Irungu Kang’ata now the governor of Muranga County.
Kihika is also a full supporter of the rights and welfare of children, especially those living with disabilities, and the betterment of girl child education. Early Life and Education
Susan was born in 1974, in Nakuru in a polygamous family as her father had more than four wives. Her mother, Alice Kihika was the second wife to the late Dickson Kimani Kihika.. Kimani Susan’s father was a Moi-era politician. She is one of the 41 children of the late Kihika Kimani.
However, Susan attended Busara Forest View Academy in Nyahururu and joined Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls’ High School in Nyeri where she took her high school level. After she finished high school level, Susan emigrated to the United States in 1992, for further education.
She was thereafter accepted to the University of North Texas, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She graduated from the Law School of Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas in 2006 with a Juris Doctor degree. Thereafter, she was accepted to the Texas Bar, after passing the requisite examinations.

In 2013, Kihika contested the Bahati Constituency parliamentary seat but lost to Kimani Ngunjiri. She vied for the Nakuru County Speaker’s seat where she defeated 7 opponents to appear as the first Assembly Speaker of Nakuru County. Also, in 2017, she contested the Nakuru County senatorial seat and won on a Jubilee Party ticket as the first female Senator of Nakuru County.
