His first major role was in the BBC The Life drama, followed by roles like Simon Casey in the Channel 4 sitcom Teachers and Mark in the Christmas romantic comedy film Love Actually (2003). More recently, he is known for his portrayal of Rick Grimes, the leading figure in the post-apocalyptic TV series AMC, based on the eponymous comic book.
