Varvatos Career

Varvatos started his career in the fashion industry in the year 1970s as a salesperson at a men’s clothing store in Detroit. He moved to New York City and started working for Ralph Lauren as a men’s sportswear designer in the 1980s, He later worked for Calvin Klein and assisted to open the brand’s men’s line. He opened his own fashion line, which focuses on men’s clothing and accessories in 1999,s. The brand has since grown to include a range of products, such as fragrances, eyewear and home goods.

The major collection of the brand, Varvatos, is high-end, luxury male clothing, with rock ‘n’ roll influences. The line aims to create a masculine look, with a subtle edginess for the male demographic. The style aims to combine quality fabrics, design and details, without being over-the-top. He released his first male fragrance line under the major collection and later expanded to such as their first women’s fragrance in 2008. John partnered with the US shoe company Converse, to create Converse under his name in September 2001. He designed the laceless Converse Chuck Taylor slip-on in 2004.
