  • Orton was born on November 14, 1982, in Altoona, Iowa, USA. He was a four-sport star in football, basketball, tennis, and track & field at Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

  • Orton was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the year 2005 NFL Draft. After an injury to Bears starter Rex Grossman, he was pressed into service as the starting quarterback during his rookie year, starting the first 14 games of the year 2005 season, but was replaced by Grossman for the playoffs that year.
  • He did not play at all in the year 2006, and sparingly in the year 2007. He regained his starting job from Grossman in the year 2008, but the team finished a disappointing 9–7 and out of the playoffs. In the offseason of that year, he was traded to the Denver Broncos.

Bledsoe consumed his college profession at Washington State University in Pullman back in 1990, where he proceeded on to have a record-setting career in his 3 years there. After earning the starting assignment at the end of the 1990 season as a true freshman (joined later by Jeff Tuel and Jayden de Laura as the only three in school history), he quickly became the face of the Cougars’ offense.

In 1992, Bledsoe guided WSU to a 9–3 record and a 31–28 win over Utah in the Copper Bowl in which Bledsoe finished 30 of 46 passes for 476 yards and two touchdowns. He correspondingly selected WSU records in single-game passing yards (476), single-season pass completions (241), and single-season passing yards (3,246). He was called the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year.

In Week 2 of the 2001 NFL season, Bledsoe scrambled for a first down during a game against the New York Jets but was hit hard by linebacker Mo Lewis.
