• He began his career in New York just days after graduating from the University of Delaware. He served at WICZ-TV in Binghamton, where he worked as a do-it-yourself news reporter covering local news as well as politicians such as the 1994 New York governor’s race, where he interviewed George Pataki, the eventual winner, twice. Then, he went to WSTM-TV in Syracuse, New York.
• He stayed for two days along the Jersey Shore awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Irene, which almost became the first hurricane to hit New Jersey in over 100 years. O’Donnell had a chance to greet Kevin Bacon, Naomi Judd, Morgan Freeman, and James Brown visited the town.
