Career

When Kimura was 15 years old, his life took an enchanting turn when he was scouted by the talent agency Johnny & Associates. After joining the talent agency, Kimura underwent extensive training in dancing, acting, and singing. Kimura was among the six out of the twenty boys from the talent agency who were chosen by Producer Johnny Kitagawa to create a new boy gang called SMAP.

Apart from his work with SMAP, Kimura also started to pursue a profession in acting. He made his acting debut in the 1996 television drama called Long Vacation. The drama was a huge success.

Following Long Vacation’s success, Kimura continued to star in several other succeeding television dramas, such as Hana Yori Dango (2005), Love Generation (2002), and Hero (2001-2003). Furthermore, Kimura appeared in several movies, such as Blade of the Immortal (2017) and The Legend & Butterfly (2020). Kimura reprised his role as Yagami in that sequel which was released on September 24, 2021.
