She is one of the 55 finalists of Miss England competition selected out of the 20,000 women that joined the competition. Speaking of the competition Tamara said despite what some people think the competition, isn’t all about looks.
The highlight for her is the charity fundraising. This is the first time she’s entered the competition and reaching the finals is something she never expected.
The marketing and communications assistant, who graduated from the University of Salford with a First in International Event Management, said: “It has been an amazing experience to be part of, even just meeting the girls from across the country, every single one of them have so much passion and drive and it is great to meet so many people from different walks of life.
“I think this competition can be underestimated by so many people who think it is just a typical beauty pageant that is all about looks – this is definitely not the case and this is proven through the variety in the rounds such as the charity fundraising, sports round, talent round, Miss Eco and bare face top model just to name a few.”
She gives up a lot of her time doing charity work for the likes of The Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund, Hope Against Cancer and Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group.
She said: “I think the best part of this competition is the fundraising aspect as it allows for young women to support and develop a cause that they are passionate about and as I have had such an active interest within the community from such a young age through Derby Carnival this is something that I thrive from.
“I can’t wait for the finals in Newcastle on August 1, it will be an unforgettable experience and I know that whoever wins will make a difference during their reign as Miss England 2019/20.”
If she wins, she wants to get behind Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of her granddad who died of cancer three years ago.
She also hopes to “support local community groups to reduce closures and get children off the streets.”
The final of Miss England will be held in Newcastle on Thursday, August 1.
