Nelson joined CTV Calgary in November 2010, as the anchor of the News at 6 replacing Barb Higgins, who left the position after joining the mayoral race in Calgary. She joined CTV from London, England where she was performing as a foreign correspondent.

A journalist since 1991, Tara has been a producer, anchor, and reporter covering some of Canada and the world’s most interesting events.
