John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne was once married to Thelma Riley. He is from the Birmingham neighborhood of Aston. The Polka Tulk Blues Band was formed in the late 1960s by Osbourne, guitarist and songwriter Geezer Butler, guitarist Tony Iommi, and drummer Bill Ward. In the months that followed, the band’s name was changed to Earth, and then, in August 1969, to Black Sabbath.

They released their self-titled debut album about a year later. He was involved in the production of the group’s eight studio albums between 1970 and 1979.

Ozzy Osbourne was fired from Black Sabbath in 1979 and went on to pursue a solo career. Osbourne has released 11 studio albums, five live albums, seven compilation albums, nine video albums, and five EPs as a solo artist.

In 2013, he reunited with the band to record what was to be their final album, 13. In 1971, Thelma first met Ozzy Osbourne. He was still in the early stages of his career at the time, and she was working at the Rum Runner, a Birmingham nightclub.

They met there, and a whirlwind romance soon followed. They married in July of that year. As Black Sabbath rose to prominence as one of the most popular and influential bands of the 1970s, Osbourne, also known as “The Prince of Darkness,” gained notoriety for his extravagant lifestyle.

He has spent the majority of his adult life abusing alcohol and drugs. In an interview with Sounds in 1978, he said, “I get high, I get fucked up… what the hell’s wrong with getting fucked up?” If so many people have to be messed up, there must be something wrong with the system.”

His bandmates have admitted over the years that, while all of them had substance abuse issues, Osbourne was by far the worst offender. This was the catalyst for his departure from Black Sabbath in 1979.

Ozzy Osbourne’s substance abuse had an impact on his personal life as well and was a major factor in the breakdown of his and Thelma’s marriage. The relationship was also harmed by Osbourne’s constant absence from home due to the band’s constant touring.

Aside from Thelma’s elder son, Elliot, whom Osbourne adopted, they have two children together. Louis John Osbourne was born in 1975, and Jessica Starshine Osbourne was born on January 20, 1972. He was later accused of being a bad father by his children.

Osbourne admitted that marrying Thelma was a “terrible mistake” and that he put her through “hell.” Ozzy Osbourne cheated on Thelma with a slew of women, including several groupies and Sharon, who was already his manager at the time.

They eventually divorced in 1982. On July 4, 1982, Ozzy Osbourne married Sharon, not long after his divorce from Thelma. This relationship had a positive impact on Osbourne’s life in the end. In the years since he has approached life with much more restraint and has eventually given up both alcohol and drugs.
