Tord Larsson Career and Edd Gould
Tord was first contacted by Edd Gould to draw comics for eddsworld.co.uk. The two became close friends, which led to Tord featuring as an animated counterpart, first appearing in Eddsworld Christmas Special.
Edd started having major computer problems around the time The Dudette Next Door was made, and had to use internet cafes and such to stay in contact with Tord. Tom and Tord were left to chat alone, and according to Edd, it lead the two to realize “they didn’t like each other too much”. Once Edd returned, things continued as normal.
Tord quit Eddsworld in 2008, but was still on good terms with Edd. Tord claimed that he wanted to pursue his own artistic career, and not “mooch off of Edd.” When Tord left, he also insisted Edd should stop using his animated counterpart in future entries. The first scene in 25ft Under the Seat was a result of this. Tom would later criticize the scene, and Edd himself would later state in a vokle that this was his least favorite scene in any of his animations. Edd and Tord still kept in touch during this time. Tord’s voice for his animated counterpart would appear one last time in a flashback scene in WTFuture.
Shortly after learning about Edd Gould’s death in 2012, Tord made a video explaining why he left Eddsworld. Some time later, he deleted the channel the video was uploaded on. Matt was keeping Tord updated during this time.
In a 2012 vlog, Tom said Tord’s reason for leaving was due to the Eddsworld fan base and the attention it was giving him. According to Tom, it reached the point where Tord could not keep using his real name online. Part of Tord’s video was used in Tom’s video “Your Eulogy”, where he drank a bottle of Cola in the name of Edd.
Tord’s animated counterpart reappeared for the Eddsworld: Legacy finale, The End, although he was voiced by Jamie Spicer-Lewis. The real Tord was not contacted.
