Danny Welbeck Career
Welbeck began playing by the age of 6 and that is when he was first spotted by Manchester United. He impressed Fletcher Moss, his local team at the age of 8, and was picked by the Manchester United youth academy. During the 2005-06 season, Welbeck finally joined United and made his debut on the club’s U 18 team on 8 April 2006 in a league match against Sunderland. He played a second match before becoming an unused substitute in the team’s last two matches of the season.
For his next season at United, he made a further 28 appearances for the U 18s and scored nine goals, including eight appearances and one goal in the FA Youth Cup, in which he helped the team to reach the final, despite being two years younger than some of the other players. In July 2007, Welbeck signed his first trainee contract with the U 18 team for the 2007/08 season before being promoted to the reserve team, making a number of substitute appearances. He received a call-up to the first team in January 2008 for a trip to Saudi Arabia to play Al-Hilal in Sami Al-Jaber’s testimonial match. He made his debut in that match on 21 January 2008, coming on as a 65th-minute substitute for Anderson.
During the 2007-08 season, he joined the first-team squad partway with his competitive debut coming on 23 September 2008 in the team’s start upfront in a 3–1 home win against Middlesbrough in the League Cup Third Round. He made his Premier League debut on 15 November 2008, as a substitute for Park Ji-sung against Stoke City. His first goal for the 2009–10 season was netted on 23rd September 2009 in the League Cup Third Round against Wolverhampton Wanderers. He then made his UEFA Champions League debut in November 2009 in a 1–0 home defeat to Beşiktaş.
In December, he signed a new contract, keeping him at Manchester United until 2013. He was loaned to Preston North End on 25 January 2010 for the remainder of the 2009–10 season. His loan was however cut short on 16 March after his knee swelled again during training and he required surgery. He was again loaned, this time to Sunderland on 12 August 2010 for the 2010–11 season. He made his debut on 14 August as a substitute for Darren Bent in a 2–2 home draw against Birmingham City and on 14th November, he scored his first goal for the club in a 3–0 away victory over Chelsea. He also scored his first home goals for Sunderland, striking twice in a 2–2 draw with Everton eight days later.
Danny Welbeck Manchester United
Welbeck was with the Premier League club three seasons: 2011–12, 2012-13, and 2013-14. He began in on 7 August 2011 by playing in the FA Community Shield match at Wembley Stadium. For his first league match of the 2011-12 Premier League season, he started alongside Wayne Rooney in an away to West Bromwich Albion and he was substituted by Dimitar Berbatov in the 65th minute.
He had quite a performance in that season leading to his nomination on the shortlist for the 2012 PFA Young Player of the Year Award, which was won by Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker.
During the 2012-13 season, Welbeck signed a new contract with Manchester United that would keep him in the club for four years on 22nd August 2012. He ended the season with two goals and 40 appearances for United. He began his 2013-14 season at United by playing in their 2–0 win over Wigan Athletic in the 2013 FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on 11 August. He went ahead and scored 10 goals for the club in that season.
He, however, expressed his wishes to leave United to play as a striker elsewhere after what he described as his unhappiest season. In his statement, he said, “I’ve been playing on the left for a while and it’s got to the time when I want to stake a place up front”. Welbeck then left Man U for the club’s direct rival, Arsenal, having made 142 appearances, scoring 29 goals in total.

Danny joined Arsenal on 2 September 2014 on a “long-term deal” for a £16 million fee. He made his debut for Arsenal on 13th September in a 2–2 draw with the previous season’s champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

He scored a UEFA Champions League hat-trick—the first treble of his professional career—against Galatasaray in a 4–1 victory on 1st October.
