Tim Curry Biography

Tim Curry (Timothy James Curry) was born on 19th April 1946 in Grappenhall, Cheshire, England. He is an English actor, voice actor, comedian, and singer. He often portrays villainous roles or character parts. Curry rose to prominence with his portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) 

Tim Curry Education Background

Tim Curry attended Kingswood School in Bath, Somerset. He graduated from the University of Birmingham with a combined degree in English and Drama (BA Drama & Theatre Studies, 1968).

Tim Curry Acting Career

In 1968 Tim Curry got his first full-time role as part of the original London cast of original London cast of the musical Hair. He met Richard O’Brien[7] who went on to write Curry’s next full-time role, that of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show (1975).Originally, Curry rehearsed the character with a German accent and peroxide blond hair, and later, with an American accent.

Shortly after the end of Rocky Horror’s run on Broadway, Curry returned to the stage with Tom Stoppard’s Travesties, which ran in London and New York from 1975 to 1976.

Tim Curry Musical Career

Tim Curry received vocal training as a boy. In 1978, A&M Records released Curry’s debut solo album Read My Lips. The album featured an eclectic range of songs (mostly covers) performed in diverse genres.In 1979 he released his second album ‘Fearless’. In 1981 he released his third album ‘Simplicity’.

Tim Curry Wife

Tim has never been married. He has referred to the fact he was ‘almost married’ once.

Tim Curry Stroke

In July of 2012, Tim suffered a major stroke which saw him confined to a wheel chair.
