Austin will make her appearance as an AARP Wellness Ambassador.
“I love the whole idea of the Pumpkin Festival,” said Austin, who last visited Half Moon Bay as a child. “I’ll be there at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday to do a morning stretch for anyone involved with the walk/run on the Coastal Trail.”
Austin has a warmup in store that involves dynamic stretching as well as stretches specifically designed for the legs, calves, lower and upper back.
“It’s something that everyone can do to get ready for their day,” she said.
After the stretching is done, Austin will motor over to the AARP Block Party where there’s even more fun in store.
“I’ll be there to do a meet-and-greet where I answer everyone’s health and fitness questions,” said Austin. “We are also going to be doing some fun things at our booth with a tie into the art aspect.”
As for those who are participating in the Pumpkin Run, Austin has a few tips.
“Just walk at your own pace, that’s the key,” she said. “Do it at your own pace. It’s not a competition. Also hydrate, drink lots of water this week. Sixty-four ounces of water per day keeps your energy up.”
Austin will lead a morning stretch for all participants in the Pumpkin Run/Walk on Coastal Trail at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. She will then be at the AARP Block Party booth starting at 9:30 a.m.
