John Fogerty Family
John Fogerty (John Cameron Fogerty) was born in Berkeley, California, and grew up in El Cerrito, California. He is one of five sons born to Galen Robert and Edith Lucile Fogerty. His father was a native of South Dakota and worked as a Linotype operator for the Berkeley Gazette, while her mother Lucile Fogerty was from Great Falls, Montana. John’s parents converted to Catholicism (was two years old by then).
John Fogerty Education
John Fogerty first attended a Catholic school in Berkeley named the “School of the Madeleine”. After one year, he was enrolled in nearby Harding Grammar School. He later attended St. Mary’s High School, then transferred to El Cerrito High School.
While at El Cerrito High School, he met the other future members of CCR and took guitar lessons from Berkeley Folk Festival creator/producer Barry Olivier. Fogerty had an older brother, Tom, who was a guitarist and bandmate in the group that became CCR. John Fogerty spent summer vacations at Putah Creek, near Winters, California, which became the subject of the Creedence Clearwater Revival song “Green River”.
John Fogerty Wife
Fogerty married Martha Paiz in 1965 but the couple divorced in the 1970s due to alcoholism. His father then met Julie Kramer in 1986 while on tour in Indianapolis, Indiana, and they married in Elkhart, Indiana, on April 20, 1991. Kramer had a daughter from a previous marriage. Fogerty and Julie have two sons and a daughter.
John Fogerty The Old Man Down the Road
“The Old Man Down the Road” is a song by American rock artist John Fogerty. Its release was in December 1984 as the lead single from Fogerty’s comeback album, Centerfield. The song became a top 10 hit single, peaking at number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and spending three weeks at the number-one spot on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart.
John Fogerty Centerfield
Centerfield is that the third solo studio album by musician John Fogerty. Released in 1985, it spawned the hit singles “The previous Man Down the Road”, “Rock and Roll Girls” and also the title track “Centerfield”. This was Fogerty’s first album in nine years; After Asylum Records rejected his Hoodoo album, he decided to take a long break from the music business because of legal battles with his record company. In the meanwhile, Fogerty’s recording contract with Asylum Records was reassigned to co-owned Warner Bros. Records, therefore, this album was the primary free on the Warner Bros. label.
Fogerty competes for all the instruments on this album himself, because of overdubbing. The image on the quilt shows associate degree old school, “beat-up glove”, as referenced in the title song, and text similar to a logo of a baseball team, setting the mood for the track. The RIAA has certified the album double-platinum (2 million album sales). The twenty-fifth day of remembrance Edition was free on Saints Peter and Paul, 2010 and options the initial album, digitally remastered, and adds a try of rare bonus tracks, each of that free as B-sides to 45s released in 1986; A cover of Rockin’ Sidney Simien’s Zydeco hit “My Toot Toot” (taken from Fogerty’s “Change in the Weather” single, featuring Sidney himself on accordion) and 1950s R&B/doo-wop gem “I Confess” by Teddy Vann and Nathaniel Nathan (from Fogerty’s “Eye of the Zombie” single). The review at Blogcritics incorrectly credits “I Confess” to Bay Area gospel group The Four Rivers.
