Juice Wrld, born Jarad Anthony Higgins, (stylized as Juice WRLD and pronounced as “Juice World”), was a rapper, singer, and songwriter from the United States. He gained worldwide recognition after the release of the single “Lucid Dreams” in 2018.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Homewood, Illinois in 1999, and attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School.His mother was very religious and conservative, not letting him listen to hip hop. However, she did allow him to listen to rock and pop music he found on video games such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Guitar Hero. In addition, she introduced him to artists such as Billy Idol, Blink 182, Black Sabbath, Fall Out Boy, Megadeth, and Panic at the Disco.

In his freshman year of high school, he began to develop himself as an artist. His debut track, “Forever”, was released on SoundCloud in 2015 under the name JuicetheKidd. He recorded a majority of his initial tracks on a cellphone, uploading them to SoundCloud in his sophomore year. The name JuicetheKidd was inspired by his adulation for rapper Tupac Shakur and his part in the film Juice. He changed it to Juice Wrld because it “represents taking over the world.”

On the 19th of June, 2018, he released a two-song EP entitled, ‘Too Soon..’The EP was in remembrance of and in dedication to deceased rappers Lil Peep and XXXTentacion, the latter of whom was killed in a homicide case relating to a robbery a day earlier. The track ‘Legends’ from said EP charted under its debut at number 65.
As a result of a Google Drive hack, many of his unreleased songs had been extensively circulating. In August of 2018, songs began to leak.
