Taylor Swift Biography
Taylor Swift one of pop’s top recording artists was born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania.She is the daughter of Andrea Finlay, a one-time marketing executive and Scott Kingsley Swift who is a financial adviser.
Her family then relocated to a rented house in the suburban town of Wyomissing in Pennsylvania, where she attended Wyomissing Area Junior and Senior High School.
Taylor Swift Music Career
After moving to Wyomissing in Pennsylvania, swift, then at the age of nine, became interested in musical theater and performed in four Berks Youth Theatre Academy productions.Taylor often traveled to New York City for vocal and acting lessons and also auditions, however after a few years of auditioning in New York and not getting anything, she became interested in country music.
It was a performance at The Bluebird Café in Nashville helped Taylor Swift land a contract with Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records.After landing the contract Taylor then recorded her first single titled ‘Tim McGraw’ in 2006.The song became a Top 10 hit on the country charts and it also appeared on her self-titled album later that year year.The album sold more than 2.5 million copies.
Later in the year 2007 Taylor Swift released the holiday album Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection which she promoted extensively as the opening act for other artists on their tours.It was through this album that she won her first award, the Horizon Award from the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Female Vocalist in 2007.
In the year 2008 Taylor Swift then released the album ‘Fearless’ with the lead single from the album: Love Story becoming the second best-selling country single of all time.By the year 2009 Taylor Swift had become the ‘in thing’ as her concert tickets were selling out in less than two minutes!Also she became the youngest artist to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2010 for ‘Fearless’.
October in the year 2010 Swift released another ‘album Speak Now’ in which she wrote all the songs herself.The album did so well as it topped on the Billboard 200 chart and managed to sell more than one million copies in its first week.
In 2012 she released he album ‘Red’ which featured the hit single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”,The album also selling more than one million copies in its first week.Her success led to her being ranked as number 1 in Forbes magazine’s highest paid celebrity under 30 in 2012 with a salary of about $57 million.
In October 2014 she released the album ‘1989’ with the song “Shake It Off” reaching the top of the pop charts. The song was also nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
In 2016 she and Zayn Malik did a single together by the name ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’, as the soundtrack of the film Fifty Shades Darker.The song was a success as it topped several charts.
