Yael Grobglas Biography
Yael Grobglas born 31 May 1984 is an Israeli actress, best known for her roles as Petra Solano and her twin sister Anežka on the CW television series Jane the Virgin. She was born on 31 May 1984 in Paris to Jean Pierre Grobglas who is from a French-Jewish family and Eva, who is from Austria and converted to Judaism. In 1986, when she was two years old, the family immigrated to Israel and resided in Ra’anana city.
As a teenager, she studied and performed in professional dance and ballet groups. She later lead a brief modeling career and participated in a number of runway shows and advertising campaigns. Eventually having realized a greater interest in acting, she graduated from the Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio in Tel Aviv.
She made her first debut in three seasons of the Israeli sci-fi TV series Ha’i, translated as The Island of 2007 to 2009, which established her popularity among Israel’s teenage audiences. She gained recognition for her debut film role in the first Israeli horror film Rabies, which participated in the Tribeca Film Festival, and a number of other venues internationally.
Through 2010 and 2011, she performed a number of lead and supporting roles in prime time Israeli television shows, including in the sitcom Ha-Shualim in 2010, Ramzor and Hatzuya 2011. She is also known for her role as The Girl in the interactive video of We the Kings Say You Like Me, and as Gabi in the popular Israeli series Tanuhi. It was announced on 22 February 2013 that the actress was cast in the lead role of America Singer in The CW’s second pilot for The Selection, though that was ultimately not picked up as a television series. That same year, she was cast for The CW’s’s Reign as Olivia, an Italian born noblewoman who is an old flame of Prince Francis.

The 33-year-old Jane the Virgin star and the 35-year-old Chicago P.D. actress snapped some cute pics together at the event, powered by Variety, at the W Hollywood on Monday (May 21) in Los Angeles.
Gina was pretty in a pink ensemble with white booties, while Sophia rocked a double denim look featuring a red pocket and boots.
They were joined by Gina‘s Jane the Virgin co-stars Yael Grobglas and Jaime Camil, the show’s creator Jennie Urman, as well as Dear White People‘s Logan Browning, Black Lightning‘s Nafessa Williams, Jillian Michaels, Nazanin Mandi, Jeannie Mai, Renee Olstead, Olesya Rulin, and more.
The brunch was held to celebrate the accomplishments of dynamic women in business, activism, music, fashion, and beyond. Benefitting Dress for Success, CÎROC donated professional wardrobes in honor of each Empowered Brunch honoree accompanied by a financial donation to the local chapter of the organization.
