He invented and patented a printing procedure on leather, and started creating patchworks of different materials in the early 1970s. He showcased these techniques in Paris and immediately got commissions from the likes of Pierre Cardin and Hermes. He presented his first namesake collection at the Salon for Prêt-à-Porter in Paris at the age of 32.
In 1972 he opened his first boutique in Saint-Tropez. In 1994, he presented the first sand-blasted jeans in Milian.
