She started writing for the art magazines I Oyster, Show, Dazed and Confused and the NME at the age of 15, after releasing a fanzine style at the age of 14 as part of the grrrl movement. Bidisha had signed a £ 15,000 book deal with HarperCollins in 1995, at the age of 16. Two years later, during her first year at university, she wrote her first book, Seahorses. She also had daily opinion columns during this period in The Big Issue weekly, The Daily Telegraph, and The Independent Newspaper’s Thursday Edition.
Bidisha’s second novel, the Too Good to Live thriller, was released at age 21. In February 2008, her third book, Venetian Masters – a travel memoir – was published. She was the contributing editor of the Sibyl women’s literary magazine and the 2nd Generation style guide and has written for The Guardian, the Financial Times, Mslexia, The Telegraph, New Statesman, and The List.
International affairs were the topic of Venetian Masters, which centered on Northern Italy in 2008, and Beyond the Wall in 2012, a Palestinian reportage piece. She became a Fellow of Johns Hopkins University’s International Reporting Program in Washington, DC, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in 2013.
