Bill Snyder, a retired college football coach and a former player was born on October 7, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Bill was the head football coach at Kansas State University from 1989 to 2005 and retired in 2006 but was rehired and served from 2009 to 2018.

He currently serves as a special ambassador for the athletics department. His parents are Tom Snyder and Marionetta Snyder. They divorced when Bill was only six years old. After the divorce, Bill and his mother moved from Salina, Kansas to St. Joseph Missouri.

Bill graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph in 1957. He later joined the University of Missouri for one year. He then attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, where he earned three letters in football for the Cardinals as a defensive back and halfback. Snyder graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Jewell in 1963. He joined Eastern New Mexico University and graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 1965.
