Muheria was born on May 27, 1963, in Kaburugi Parish, in the Diocese of Muranga, presently known as Muranga County. Between 1979 and 1980, Muheria attended Strathmore College in Nairobi for his form five and six studies. He studied for his secondary education at Mang’u High School and sat the O-level exam in 1978.
After completing high school, Muheria enrolled at the University of Nairobi, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and graduated in 1984.
Furthermore, Muheria was wet to further his studies at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, where he graduated in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Theology. On June 13, 1993, Muheria was ordained as a priest and served in that post as a member of Opus Dei until October 30, 2003. Before joining Opus Dei, Muheria worked as a civil engineer for five years.

Career
Muheria was appointed Bishop of Embu in 2003 and received episcopal consecration at Embu on January 10, 2004, officiated by Archbishop Giovanni Tonucci, Titular Archbishop of Torcello, assisted by Archbishop Raphael Simon Ndingi Mwana’a Nzeki, of Nairobi and Archbishop John Njue, Coadjutor Archbishop of Nyeri.
On June 28, 2008, he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Kitui and apostolic administrator over the Embu Diocese, where he was honored to serve until July 25, 2009. From February 21, 2015, to August 25, 2018, he was appointed apostolic administrator over the Diocese of Machakos.
Bishop Muheria was appointed Archbishop of Nyeri Archdiocese and Apostolic Administrator of Kitui Diocese on April 23, 2017. His work as apostolic administrator of Kitui Diocese ended on August 29, 2020. Furthermore, he was installed as Archbishop of Nyeri on June 17, 2017, after Archbishop Emeritus Peter J. Kairo quit, after acquiring the mandatory retirement at the age of 75.
