The book chronicles how the team paraded to an unbeaten season, state title, and number 2 national ranking despite off-the-court crises and not having a single senior graduate to a Division I program.

    Hurley was chosen by the Sacramento Kings as the seventh pick in the 1993 NBA draft. He marked a shoe contract with a new shoe company ITZ (In The Zone), which was marketed at Foot Locker exclusively.

    Hurley went back to the NBA for the 1994–95 season and played four more years beyond that. He was sold to the Vancouver Grizzlies on February 18, 1998, and played in 27 games for the Grizzlies. Hurley was waived by the Grizzlies on January 25, 1999.

    Car Accident

    On Dec. 12, the year 1993, then-Sacramento Kings point guard Hurley nearly lost his life in a severe auto accident. Hurley suffered two collapsed lungs, a ruptured trachea, broken ribs, a compression fracture in his back, and an injury to his wrist. In the year 1993, Hurley’s parked SUV was hit by a station wagon going at least 50 miles per hour. He was ejected from his vehicle and landed in a ditch over 70 feet away.

    Afterward, Hurley was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Hurley was in surgery for eight hours as doctors worked to save his life.
