Bagwell began an amateur boxing career after he graduated from high school. He was also a certified massage therapist before he became a wrestler. He debuted in 1990 after training under Steve Lawler. He worked for North Georgia Wrestling as Fabulous Fabian. In 1991, Buff was hired by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) with his first fight being against Mike Graham but sadly he lost the fight,
His first televised fight was against Rip Rogers which he won. He held the WCW World Tag Team Championship five times with various partners; twice with The Patriot (as Stars ‘n’ Stripes), once with Shane Douglas, once with Scotty Riggs (as The American Males), and once with 2 Cold Scorpio. Buff suffered a neck injury during a match with Rick Steiner that could potentially end his career but miraculously healed and competed for WCW.
On July 9, 2001, Bagwell was fired by the WWF, after only 2 television appearances because he had a poor backstage attitude and work ethic. Buff now wrestles for Universal Championship Wrestling (UCW), which is an independent wrestling promotion in Georgia.
