Growing up in the Washington, DC area, Parker began his broadcasting career in 1991 at WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi, while performing on his BS in Geosciences at Mississippi State University. Thereafter he worked for WHP and WHTM in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he covered the Storm of the Century in 1993. He transferred to Houston in 1995, where he covered Opal and Hurricanes Georges for KPRC.
Parker also joined the Weather Channel in 1999, where he began as an On-Camera Meteorologist. In 2011, he became a Specialist and currently emerges during extended live programming and fill-in situations.
