Kennedy is an attorney, writer and editor who has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations. With Ellen Alderman, she co-wrote the book, In Our Defense; The Bill of Rights In Action, which was published in the year 1991. During an interview regarding the volume, she explained that the two wanted to show why the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution was written.
